Daisy first meets with Travis
at a truck stop and captures the attention of most of the men
there.
At the end, Cary is out on
the terrace and trims several roses to send to Jonathan at the
hospital. He also gives one to Daisy after another "pep
talk".
Professor:
It's a unique experience
to delve into someone's background so different from our own.
And these rare encounters enrich our lives, broaden our horizons
and ...
Daisy: ... spoil our fantasies.
(Daisy is in her room when
the phone rings.)
Daisy: Hello?
Cary: Hi, how's it going?
Daisy: Cary. Like you always said ... sometimes
a little too much help is just as bad as no help at all.
Cary: Daisy, are you taking the blame
for not knowing something you couldn't have known?
Daisy: How'd you guess?
Cary: Because I know you. Look, sometimes
it just doesn't work out the way we want it to.
Daisy: Well ... that doesn't make my client
or me feel any better.
Cary: Don't be so hard on yourself ...
leave that task to others.
Daisy: (Smiles.) You always know just what
to say to me.
Cary: (Grins.) And right now it's time
to say goodnight. You get some sleep, okay?
Daisy: Okay. At least after this call,
there's a chance of it. Thanks for the pep talk.
Cary: I think I enjoyed it even more than
you did.
Daisy: Cary ... when I first started to
work with you, you said that in time, it would get easier.
Cary: I lied. (Smiles.) Goodnight.
Daisy: (Smiles, too.) Goodnight.
Cary: Sweet revenge ... that's a contradiction
in terms.
