Cary lost his driver's license
after a mixup with the DMV. Brian couldn't drive him because
the law school semester had started, so Cary hired a driver.
This was Lyman's first show.
He was trying to steal Cary's Jaguar when Cary mistakenly thought
he was the driver the employment agency had sent over. When Cary discovered
the truth, Lyman broke down and admitted what he'd try to do,
but that he couldn't go through with it because Cary had been
so good to him. Cary kept him as his driver.
Cary: Daisy Lloyd, this is Lyman Whittaker.
Lyman, this is ...
Lyman: Daisy Lloyd. I listen good.
Cary: And drive ...
Lyman: ... even better.
Daisy: Well, it's a pleasure.
(She shakes his hand.)
Lyman: I know.
Lyman: Hey, look here. Once we get to San
Diego, why don't we cruise over to Tijuana for the dog races?
Cary: (Smiles.) Ah, no thank you. I've
got to concentrate on my case.
Lyman: Case? Hey, man .. you a lawyer?
Cary: No. I find people.
Lyman: You mean like a detective?
Cary: No. (Thinks about it.) Well, yeah
... yeah. Something like a detective, but not a card-carrying
detective.
Lyman: (Relieved.) Oh ... well, good. I
mean, that's the best kind. You see, who likes badges anyway?
