Quotes

Cary: Have you ever heard of taking a cab?
Lyman: Sure, I took a cab once. Well, I got caught, though.

Daisy: After my sister died, I'd look at Cary and think ... he's probably the only person who misses her more than I do. So, to ease the pain, he started Maxwell Limited.
Jim: And offered you a job?
Daisy: Yeah. He said he needed help, but I think he was just giving me shelter.
Jim: Can he really find anyone?
Daisy: Well, he's rarely stumped.

After Daisy and Cary have a fight about her involvement with Jim, Rita and Daisy are walking in the park.
Rita:
Is it your fight with Cary?
Daisy: Yeah. (Nods.) And the trip to Acapulco and Jim's marriage proposal. I told him I'd give him an answer today. Cary seems to think I don't know what I'm doing.
Rita: Well, what do you think?
Daisy: I think Cary knows me very well.
Rita: Might you marry Jim?
Daisy: Yeah, I think I could. (She stops.) But something is holding me back.
Rita: Or someone?
Daisy: (Irritated.) I wish I didn't care so much what Cary thinks.
Rita: Or what he feels.
Daisy: Why is he so overprotective of me?
Rita: Probably the same reason that you're overprotective of him.
Daisy: (Softens.) You think he cares that much about me?
Rita: (Nods.) Some things take time to get over. And some things take time to begin.

Jim: Remember when I asked you why you weren't married?
Daisy: I said I just hadn't met the right guy.
Jim: Well, I've been thinking ... maybe you have.
Daisy: Jim ...
Jim: (Interrupts her.) I didn't mean me.
(Daisy looks at him, then looks away, finally realizing who he meant.)
