About Cary ...
- Cary was a commercial airplane pilot on a Paris route when
he met Kate and Daisy on a flight. Daisy was 16 at the time.
Cary and Kate were married six months later.
- Cary and Kate's seventh wedding anniversary was on the same
day of the first scenes of the pilot. Cary had a large painted
portrait of her in his mansion (Photos
of Portrait). A music box underneath the portrait played
"My Funny Valentine" and that theme was worked into
the incidental music of several shows.
- Kate died almost two years before the first show. It was
mentioned she had been dead three years in several other shows.
- Cary was very wealthy -- he owned a small jet , a seaplane
(Photos of Planes), a
mansion, a beach house, and never worried about client's fees.
- Cary loved gardening and kept beautiful gardens not only
at his mansion, but also a smaller version on the office terrace.
- Cary drove a brown Jaguar XJ6. Photos

About Daisy ...
- Three years before the first show, Daisy had just graduated
from college and had been accepted at all the law schools she
applied to when Cary approached her about helping him at Maxwell
Limited.
- Daisy drove two different red Mustang convertibles: an '83
GLX Convertible and an '85 GT Convertible. Photos

About Rita ...
- Rita had been married to her husband
for 25 years.
- Rita's young son, Scott, is introduced
to Brian in Maxwell,
Ltd..
About Brian ...
- Cary's nickname for Brian was "Fletch".
- Brian drove a red Honda Elite 250 scooter.
Photos of Scooter
- Brian left Maxwell Limited during From the Heart to
attend law school full time.
About Lyman ...
- Lyman first showed up in From the Heart,
trying to steal both Cary and Daisy's cars.
- Lyman was street-wise and had a totally
different background from the rest of the staff, which often
lead to funny moments during the stories, especially between
Cary and Lyman.
- Lyman constantly read racing papers,
trying to figure out which horse to bet on next.
- Wherever he was, Lyman was usually
eating something.
About the Office ...
- There is a large brass plaque that
reads "MAXWELL LTD." on the brick fence pillar at the
beginning of the walk that leads up to the small two-story, ivy-covered
building where the offices are located. Photos
of Office
- The address above the brass plaque
is 9014.
- Although never mentioned on the show,
several written references have been made to Oscar, the
computer. One reference states, "'Oscar' accessed a variety
of information networks to find current addresses of those he
[Cary] hoped to find/reunite." Must be the one Rita is seen
using quite a bit.
About the Show ...
- Marcia Wallace from The Bob
Newhart Show was originally going to be Maxwell Limited office
manager Avis Turner. She is seen briefly in the first show. Photos of Marcia
